Dr. Rainer Kübler from the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWM is awarded the Joseph-von-Fraunhofer Prize 2008 for the development of a new glass separating technique.

Leibniz Prize 2007 for Peter Gumbsch

The head of the Fraunhofer IWM received the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz Prize 2007 for his outstanding research work in the field of material deformation and fracture processes on March 13, 2007 in Berlin.

The Leibniz Prize is Germany’s most renowned and highly esteemed research award that comes with 2.5 million Euro prize money. The Fraunhofer IWM is the first Fraunhofer Institute to have two Leibniz award winners (Professor Hermann Riedel won the prize in 1991).
